Joik

In 2015 I met Hans-Peter Lerjen who endeavours to introduce Sámi culture to Switzerland. This inspired me to organize musical projects with Sámi artists Biret Álehttá Mienna, IÅ‹gor Ántte Áilu Gaup and Øistein Hanssen.

These projects have also involved artists from Switzerland, Sweden, Italy and Turtle Island/USA.

Workshops

Apart from organizing individual workshops, we regularly partner with Klangwelt Toggenburg, Raven-Spirit and Nonam in Switzerland, as well as Pacific Sámi Searvi in Seattle.

Personal Joik

In addition to having received my grandmothers' first names at birth, I later received a musical name from Ailloš, which I am deeply grateful for. Giving a personal joik is a beautiful Sámi tradition that Ailloš has generously shared with us. You can listen to my personal joik here:

The picture is from their visit at the Museum of Contemporary Circumpolar Art as part of the project Arctic Voices in Bern. Øistein Hanssen gave a presentation on Sámi drums, Berit Alette Mienna a joik-workshop and the trio a concert.

Pacific Sámi Searvi

In September 2023 Ailloš travelled to Seattle as a guest of the Pacific Sámi Searvi. Many activities, big and small, connected the descendants of Sámi emigrants with their roots in Sápmi, and also arroused local interest.
